Seminar Description
This session will focus on wind loads on non-building structures, including equipment, screenwalls, PV, and signs. The session will discuss ASCE 7 wind load provisions for non-building structures and how to correctly apply them through examples. An in-depth exploration for engineering commonly encountered situations that are not directly addressed in the code will follow. Sample topics include:
- Horizontal and vertical components of wind load for rooftop equipment.
- Wind load on rooftop equipment on buildings less than 60 feet and over 60 feet.
- Rooftop screenwalls.
- Signs.
- Canopies.
- Tall parapets.
- Wind loads on trellises.
Attendees will become more familiar with the ASCE 7 wind provisions for non-building structures. Further, attendees will recognize wind loads on non-building structures not specifically addressed in the code and obtain tools to help address these topics in their engineering designs.
